Coming Soon: The All-New 2016 Hyundai Tucson

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is the crossover everyone has been waiting for!

The all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson debuted at both the Geneva and New York auto shows recently. The new Tucson represents a better choice in the compact crossover segment, not just here but everywhere in the world. It is designed to be safer, more attractive inside and out and more efficient.

The outside is all-new with a big grille and a softer silhouette than before. The bold new styling falls within current Hyundai design language, but with more sculpted lines and textures. LED lighting will be utilized for accent and daytime driving lights to its twin-projector beams. This will be the first time the Tucson will offer 19-inch wheels, designed for better ride quality and, up top, the roof rails have a low profile for better air management when they are not in use. The taillights will use LED technology for better recognition at night and exhaust tips are given a chrome bezel mounted flush with the lower bumper area.

Step inside and the Tucson is completely transformed. There is plenty of soft touch, premium materials throughout the cabin, including a pad where the right knee would touch the forward console. Switches are given a more premium touch and control. Space increased, as well. Cargo space is now up to 31.0 cubic feet behind the second row. All models get LCD touch screen displays for the rearview camera screen and infotainment systems. A next-generation BlueLink system will be part of the new Tucson.

Apple's Siri EyesFree system is now integrated within the technology structure. Choose the navigation option, and mobile phone applications are integrated with it. Yelp also interfaces with the navigation system, where when a restaurant listing is chosen, it automatically gets downloaded onto the navigation system for turn-by-turn directions. The navigation system is only available with the eight-inch screen on upper models and packages.

The standard 2.0 liter offers 164 horsepower and coupled to a six-speed automatic. Choose the Eco, Sport or Limited model, and the new 1.6 iter turbocharged four-cylinder engine becomes available. With an estimated 175 horsepower on tap, Hyundai estimates a highway fuel economy figure up to 33 MPG. The turbo comes with a new seven-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission. Front- and all-wheel drive systems will be available on both engines. The all-wheel drive system will include a driver-selectable Lock mode for maximum traction on all four wheels.

The Tucson gets a wheelbase increase of 1.2 inches from its current model, enabling better ride quality and structural stability form an all-new chassis. The result is lower noise, vibration and harshness overall. A motor-driven power steering system will also be used on the new Tucson, which results in a quieter steering action and less friction resulting in a more precise feel to the wheel and on the ground.

Safety is a major concern and the Tucson now offers a comprehensive set of active and passive features - some of which are making their first appearance on the Tucson. These features include Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Backup Warning Sensors and the standard rearview camera. With high-strength steel construction and designed crumple zones, the emphasis on making the Tucson safer than the rest of the segment has been given a high priority overall.

The all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson is expected to arrive in July at Stew Hansen Hyundai here in Clive, IA. The Central Region's Number One Hyundai dealership is eagerly awaiting the first models for the active families and individuals across the Des Moines area and throughout Central Iowa to experience.
